PLAYOFF SCHEDULE
All members are invited to the CITY GRAIL FINALS at Grit's on April 16. Oak St. Brewery is generously donating FREE BEER (while it lasts) which will probably include their FLEUR DE LIS LAGER, PILSEN LAGER & DARTGATE DARK MILD. If anyone wants to bring their favorite dish, we'd love to hear from you. MENU SO FAR: PIZZA from the Bangin' the Neighbors' team's own Nathan Grow and his popup PEACE LOVE PIZZA NOLA. Also Nachos Deluxe! CITY GRAIL FINALS NEWS: CAPTS. START WORKING ON YOUR SUMMER ROSTERS DUE APR 20 -FESTA Ryan G got a 180. -The Heauxs were on Allstar-fire in their season finale 13-6 win over Platinum leaders, the Frunchroom. Johnny had 5 stars with a 78 out, Louis had 3 with a 108 out but Donny surpassed them all with a 180 and a 118 out, dethroning M-Rod's 117 by a single point and claiming the High Out title, for now. Apparently, it takes about 13 allstars to beat the Festa and the Heauxs met their quota this time. PLAYOFFS WEEK 1 NEWS: -Congrats to all the division winners: Homedale High Demand, Grit's River Rats, Lotsa Luck MFers, 45 Slop and the undefeated Grit's Missed-fits & Kingpin Bulls*** -Allstar leaders: Gold-Mike Garcia & Chris Jones, Silver-Don the Butcher & Ryan Perque, Bronze-Brett King & Sarah Guidry -MVPs: Gold-JP Glisson & Ralph Schoolcraft, Silver- Art Cameron & Clee Hatter, Bronze-Brett King & Ian Cowley - It looked like Oofda Mike Mason had claimed the new HIGH OUT with his impressive 109 by way of Double Bull until the High Demand card arrived and it was clear that High Mike Rodrigue was the new titleholder with a 117. -As the Mystery Outs continue to pour in this season we've added a new bonus to our selection process to better reward those quality 101+ point finishes that may have spent a few weeks on the High Out leader board before being dethroned. From now on, any double Allstar Out (101+) is worth TWO chances to win in addition to the existing extra chance for using Double Bull (Mike Mason's 109 via DB just earned him 3 chances to win). Our "Mystery Out" awards are not true M.O.'s but more of a lottery system that regularly dispenses $ back to players using the only Outs we keep track of, those over 60 that we record as Allstars. We long ago abandoned the "true" M.O. system (where you pick a secret number and hope someone hits it but they often don't) because it rarely paid out or had to be split between multiple payees. Our system awards players chances to win from the first 301 of Week One to the last 801 in the City Grail Finals. Winners are then selected using www.random.org from however many chances to win there are per division. Bulls*** Capt. Brett King just clocked his increasingly higher third M.O. of the season with a 79 (prev. 64 & 77). This currently gives him a 3/5ths chance of winning his division and his only competition comes from fellow teammates Kase 82 & Will 68. In other words, it's total Bulls***! Similarly, Silver 2's $20 has a 3/5 chance of going to the Friendlies' latest hotshot Ryan (Perque) and Ama-Retro Dave is 2/5ths guaranteed to win Silver 1. -The Eggs had a notable starfest in their 11 pt. win last week; 8 in total with Glenn Winter claiming 4 of those. - Mick's Festa defeated the Aces with only 3 players, 11-8 WEEK 10 NEWS: -Jeff Densen & Danny Schomaker hit R9s. Heauxs ruined Festa's undefeated streak. WEEK 9 NEWS: - 3/12/24 3:31 pm update: I was just now informed of some egregious player behavior that has no place in ODC. Hate speech of any kind and directed at anyone will not be tolerated. This Club is open to every kind of adult human being and as a member you are expected to respect other members and be respected by them. If you feel it's okay to disrespect any of our members, please do us all a favor and remove yourself, thank you. - Too many teams played short last week, too many to count. No scores reported from Platinum, wait, Heaxs & Festa played but Off at Church & Aces were too worn out from playing their Week 2 rematch to play their Week 8 match. So it goes. WEEK 8 NEWS: FALL 2023 MUGS & PLAQUES HAVE FINALLY ARRIVED! CHECK WITH YOUR BARTENDER. LOTSA LUCK & HOMEDALE AWARDS ALREADY DELIVERED. - The Wire Wire were able to field 3 (a decent showing for them) but were unable to get a point from the Missed-fits in a crucial double-points match to make up for their postponed Week 2 match. We wish Wire Ben Tarantino a speedy recovery. - The Coronitas are still trucking despite fielding just the tenacious duo of Bobby & Natalie, yet successfully fending off those dreaded forfeits. Persevere, Rendon! - The Filthy Bungholes played a double match last week to makeup their Week 2 postponement. They split it, 14-5 and 8-11. WEEK 7 NEWS: - The Coronitas only had 2 vs. the Friendlies but they were not shut out. Ryan Perque was so excited about the 18 pt. win, he shot the first 180 in ODC this year. - Undefeated teams remaining: Mick's F.Festa, Grit's Missed-fits, Kingpin Bulls***, Basin BB When & maybe Lotsa Luck Is It In, depending on W6 results. Amazingly, thru W5, they were still undefeated in FIFTH WEEK 6 NEWS: - There were some notable Week 5 upsets you'll want to know about. The River Rats defeated Not Even Close with just 3 players, 11-8, while the 3-player Bulls*** beat the Pipemeisters 13-6 including TWO 1v2 doubles wins, Brett King won his 501 over Bobby & Christian and Kase Niles won his Double Cricket vs. Tim & Scott. I'm pretty sure this is the first time two 1v2 wins have ever happened in a single match, wow! Sadly, Evangeline could only field 2 players so they avoided the dreaded forfeit despite being crushed mercilessly by the Oil & Water 16-3. - Week 5 Bungholes vs. Brewers rescheduled for Feb 18. - Through the first half of Spring, only 3 undefeated teams remain: Mick's F.Festa, Grit's Missed-fits & Kingpin Bull***(edit: wrong, also LOL Is It? & BB When) WEEK 5 NEWS: - No scores reported for the Week 4 Is It In? vs. Rendon. Did y'all play? UPDATE: yes, 13-6. Getting a little worried about the Coronitas who have been short players, missed several scoresheets and are currently in both the Warning AND Penalty Boxes this week. Hopefully they can turn it around. This is the LAST WEEK TO ADD PLAYERS. WEEK 4 NEWS: - Ace Louis Trusty the Elder got his first R9 of 2024 a couple weeks ago. - The Week 2 Coronitas v. Nuns rescheduled match for 1/25 didn't happen, may possibly be re-rescheduled again? - Last Fall, two players hit 5 Bulls early in the season but I had to delete the news to keep the index page from crashing. Who were those two players? I'm going to award them a "close enough" 6 bulls coffee mug. *UPDATE: one was Brett King! 2nd was Art Cameron WEEK 3 NEWS: (Sorry for the late update; I've been tied up with my weekend parade stuff) -Despite last week's frigid temps, only 4 of our 18 matches were rescheduled or postponed. Rendon Coronitas vs. Round of Nuns has been rescheduled for Thursday, Jan. 25th @ Homedale. The remaining 3 matches (Heauxs@Church, WireWire@Missed-fits and, ahem, Filth@Bungholes <=ewww!) can either be rescheduled, double their next meeting's scores or play a double-feature match using multiple boards. -The newest High Heath Stephens got himself a R9 patch last week, suitable for ironing. -Take note Bronzites, the team briefly mislabeled Basin Heavey Metal shall now forever be referred to as the Basin Pipemeisters. - REMINDER: Don't forget to fill out the Individual Stats section of your scorecard. After the Week One grace period, it's a -1 penalty. WEEK 2 NEWS: - Welcome to all new and returning players to the ODC's 62nd season, our 25th year of steeltip mayhem, and cheers to a familiar face at a new bar -- Bobby Adams rejoins us with his new Rendon Inn team, the Coronitas. - Inside your packet there is a color page with a list of all the captain's contacts in case you need to request a match postponement or maybe tell your opponent that you're bringing the snack that night. I'm still waiting for a contact method for new spinoff team Basin Heavey Metal. - Bulls*** Brett King-pin claimed this year's first R9. And speaking of R9's & 180's, the latest packets we bought were made of some new recycled material that couldn't stand up to the pressure of holding shotglasses so I was unable to deliver the Fall 2023 awards like usual. If you're named below, try to catch up with me this season at one of my Oil & Water Don't Mick's matches and I'll have your 180 shotglass, R9 shotglass or patch to give you: 180: Kent Woynowski, R9: Neal Favret, James Geoffrey, Chris Jones, Mike Sanders (2), Art Cameron, Gene Leboeuf, Shane Dickson, Ian Cowley I'm no longer putting checks in the packets because they keep getting lost or uncashed. Winners below and/or their captains, please contact me with preferred payment method. Mystery Out Winners $20: Blake Grabert, Tom Haggerty, Arthur Rowe, Don Wyatt, Soup High Out Winner $40: Jason Walker |
