WEEK
8 NEWS: - Bronze 1 Week 7 match between Mick's Dartacus & Fat's Full Hose postponed tbd. - In B2, Oak St.'s Summertime Blues continued with the Tang Clan fielding just 3 in their loss to the Basin Risk. Of note, Tang Jonah scored 2 pts. by himself in a Iron Man 501 victory over Risks Sarah & Pops, also earning 2 wins for it. S2's DGAF's also played with 3, again. - ODC newcomer Butt Chris Owens got a....say it with me...TON--AAAAAAAAAAYYYYY--teeeeeeee! - Ace Louis Trusty Sr. got a R9. - Can you tell I've been watching a lot of the live PDC tournaments that have been airing almost weekly Thu-Sun with LIVE BETTING on the Fanduel TV Extra channel via the PLUTO TV app? $1000 on Luke the Nuke, please! Check it out anywhere you can watch Pluto via Internet. I know the Homedale has it on at least two of their TVs or maybe ask your bar to download it. Finally, they've started broadcasting the premiere global darting events live and made them available to the general public not just paid PDC subscribers. It can be inspiring to watch these elite players and how they throw, studying their mannerisms and techniques. Of course, it can also be quite depressing to see how much better they are than yourself so just don't go that road lol. I haven't found a reliable upcoming event guide for Fanduel TV Extra but if there's a PDC event, it's usually televised. PDC 2025 Calendar of Events This weekend, Fri 6/27 - Sat. 6/28 is the US Darts Masters & N. American Championship. WEEK 7 NEWS: REMINDER: ONLY SEND SCORECARDS VIA EMAIL TO ORLEANSDARTCLUB@COX.NET, NOT IN TEXT MESSAGES TO TOM'S 2005 2" CRACKED-SCREEN NOKIA DUMB-PHONE, THANKS! - Geeser John Langridge is the new HIGH OUT holder with a 139 (T19-DB-D16!), displacing Brewer Tom's 111. - 112 was the secret Allstar number in the Hoppy Endings vs. High Demand match last Tuesday. High JP got one in 301 and Hoppy Preston got TWO, in 301 and 501. - Bangin' da Nabors (6) played short w/ 3 vs. Buddies (13) WEEK 6 NEWS: NO MORE NEW PLAYERS MAY BE ADDED! - Mint Steve Oxford got his second R9 of the summer while Oof Shaylyn Broussard shot a 5B. And on his very first night of league darts, steel tip virgin and newly shanghaied Pointless Andrew Little(r) claimed his first Round of Nine shotglass (with three trip-16s), something many or our darters have yet to accomplish after playing dozens of seasons. Fluke or prodigy? Only time will tell. - Oak St. was one Hop short of an Ending, fielding just 3 shooters, same with the DGAF MFERS & even the Full House *(who delayed their game till Thursday hoping for a fourth but was still more Empty Nest than Full House). We called a doctor but they said there ain't no cure for the Summertime Blues. WEEK 5 NEWS: LAST WEEK TO ADD PLAYERS! - The short-staffed Oak St. Brewers remained "stout" vs the Daddy Dart, winning 10-9 with only 3 players. - 2-peat Gold 2 MVP Mitchell Foor's single cricket win prevented a Bunghole shutout vs the high-octane Heauxs summer roster featuring the long-awaited ODC return of legendary veteran Bobby Buuck. Alas, in Silver 1, the Meat Sticks and Cricket Club were not so fortunate, collecting rare goose eggs from Bangin' & Is It In. - Mint Steve Oxford got a R9, huzzah! WEEK 1-3 NEWS: DO NOT USE THE PRINTED SCHEDULE SCHEDULE IN YOUR PACKET, USE THE WEBSITE SCHEDULE. BUT DON'T THROW IT AWAY. ON THE BACK IS A CAPTAIN'S CONTACT LIST WITH PHONE #'S YOU MAY NEED. - Buckle up for another roller-coaster of white-knuckled steel-tip pandemonium. Despite losing a few teams for summer, we actually grew with the addition of several new start-ups and spinoffs, sitting at a comfortable 41 total (only one BYE, sorry B2!). We welcome back Capt. Travis Leiva Sr. with an updated 2.0 version of his former Square Wheels team, introducing his son Travis Jr. and some other fresh talent to ODC Tuesdays. Grit's is hosting another "new" team, the Geesers, who are anything but new, including John Langridge, Ray Greene, Vince Caruso & Aric Ashenbrenner. I'm not exaggerating when I say these hardcore veterans easily have over a century of combined league experience. We're talking about former members of the legendary Wild Geese team from GNODA Metro division in the 70s-80s-90s. They started the summer red-hot, beating the Filth 10-9 with just 3 players and Geeser Alan Kreppein nearly winning his handicap 1 vs. 2 501 with the first 180 of the season. - Not to be outshined, in Bronze 1, Full Mark Hudson started his season with a SIX BULLS! Pi-yah! Festa Blake Grabert imported the first R9 of the season from Thibodeaux, cher, c'est si bon! - We also welcome two new bars: Parlay's & Hog Alley. Many of you are familiar with Parlay's on Harrison Ave near City Park and may have played there in the GNODA days when they had a team. Hog Alley is a bit over our boundary in Old Metairie, on Focis St. right off Met. Rd, but they have a great dart room with attached (secluded!) patio and a bar that is almost too classy for most ODC members. It's probably about the same distance from Uptown as Basin or Melius. - As you may have noticed, the scorecards have been modified a bit, removing the "card #" fields, widening the Allstar description box and a few other minor changes. Bless the hearts of everyone who is still writing the member #s along with the names but it's totally optional now. I'm just trying to streamline the scoresheet experience for y'all, lol. - Also there is an UPDATED RULES in every packet that includes a few clarifications and the 301/501 singles option. In a nutshell, you can pick either 301 or 501, no matter what your opponent chooses. I hear the top divisions like 501 because it lasts longer and offers more allstar opportunities while the low divisions like it because you don't have to double in. -Rule Clarification on the 100+ point Allstar cap in Cricket. From "Scoring" Sect. VI:8 : "In cricket, no stars will count on points scored once you have exceeded your opponent’s score by 100 points. If at the beginning of your throw, you are less than 100 points in the lead, any allstar combo which surpasses this 100 point difference will be counted as an allstar." The purpose of this rule is to discourage superfluous, unnecessary pointing by players trying to pad their Allstar totals against weaker players while simultaneously encouraging players to quickly close out and end their games. While points no longer count for Allstars after a 100 point lead, marks that close out do still count for Allstars. We even give a bonus Allstar (2 total) for the excellent endgame 6-mark shot of an open triple (usually 15s) and 3 bulls. (It used to be either 6 marks or 3 bulls but not both. Why NOT both?," we said.) *********************************************************************************************************************** -WEEK 0 NEWS: - Rule Reminders on Adding Players: The deadline to add players is Week 5. The top division can add anyone. Other divisions can add "new" (never played league darts before) but need approval to add anyone who has played league before. You must get approval from the Dartsar BEFORE the Tuesday match (not during) or you may be playing an ineligible player(s) and forfeit any games they win. Carry on. - Each week, someone on your team should check the Warning Box above to help you avoid penalties. Also check the scores and stats because every season a few errors crop up among the 3-4 thousand data entries and YOU are the only proofreader. We depend on you to catch those inevitable mistakes so please email Tom with any errors you find, thanks! |
