*301/501 option: The motion passed by vote last season so we'll give it a provisional trial run this season.
Just like ODC Rule IV.2 states: "In the spirit of good sportsmanship and fun, agreements between team captains shall take precedence over these rules of play."
Two teams who have "opted out" of the new feature are SHAMROCK BULLS DEEP & HALF MOON JUST THE TIP.
For other teams who agree to this option, IN THE FIRST FOUR SINGLES GAMES ('01) the winner of the cork shall choose either 301 or 501.
For this and triples games, the game choice is made AFTER THE CORK, not before lineups are exhanged.
Someone asked me how JUST THE TIP could win the Gold Grail and go to Silver 1. They dropped top shooters Rogers & Beu and added 3 brand new players which dropped their team power rating about 50 points.
You may notice we tried to reduce the amount of BYES due to player complaints. We had 25 teams again and this resulted in only 4 divisions and a fluky, 7-team Silver 2 division. Otherwise, it looks pretty balanced.
It may get dicey for home game scheduling conflicts during Weeks 8-10 with Milan & Homedale but we'll cross that bridge when we come to it.
Also, the stupid Gretna Post Office forgot to bill me for the past two years and suddenly, with no warning whatsoever, closed my 20-year POB 2347 in July. Not even a handwritten warning note or bill! I was able to reclaim it but that explains all the checks that "got lost" last season. Unfortunately after I paid almost $300 in back rent, they STILL forgot to take the block off until I complained this week. So any checks sent recently may get returned to you, or just lost (Thanks, Postmaster!). Affected teams may include KINGPIN & 45 TCHOUP.
Red Door Tambourine Mike Zapalowski is a big fan of Dart Connect and would like more ODC darters to sign up as well. Personally I'm on the fence about it but all players are encouraged to look at it and see if it's their cup of tea. You'll need to create an account, score (or shadow-score) your matches (except super-cricket) via an electronic device (tablet, pad, etc.) and pay a separate subscription fee, to name a few of the pertinent details. Mike has put together a more comprehensive info-package below that you may review. This is a voluntary add-on, NOT mandatory for ODC teams, I repeat, NOT mandatory. Perhaps it will enrich your dart experience although I'm doubtful some of the "old school" chalk-loving teams will embrace it. Your call. Thanks, Tom
